Use Megaswap to Buy NFT Books on Spatium Stories
and bring a wave of readers onto DeSo
Surprise! We’ve got some news for you!
Spatium Stories has just released a brand new feature. It is in early beta, but we are very excited about this!
As of now, you can buy NFT Books on the Spatium Stories platform using BTC, SOL, ETH, USDC, or DUSD!! Thanks to Deso’s Megaswap API!
That’s right, 3 more crypto options and 2 stablecoin options!
Now, I say it’s in beta mainly because Megaswap itself is in early beta. If their API’s change, which they are subject to change, then it could break us. If a change goes through, we’ll be sure to notify everyone and update things as fast as possible.
But even if one of their changes break us, your crypto will always stay safe, as you’ll see in a minute.
This is also in beta because as of right now, this will only work with our MOD books, or Mint on Demand books.
The reason is that the RARE books are put up for real-time auction on the DeSo blockchain, which means people can buy RARE books on any DeSo app that supports NFTs.
So, even though we could very easily add in this alternative crypto payment functionality, there is a slight issue…
As of now if a new book was published with RARE copies and it was in high demand, there isn’t a way for us to do this alternative crypto payment option and guarantee the purchase of the book.
Just due to the timing of everything. BUT, we already have several ideas to fix this issue so stay tuned.
That being said, this is a huge announcement, and we believe another amazing avenue to get people outside of the DeSo ecosystem into DeSo through the love of books!
I wanted to take this time to showcase how exactly this will work on the Spatium Stories platform, and then for those that are a little more on the nerdy side, I will dive deeper on the specific transactions taking place.
So, in order to buy a book with one of these alternative cryptos, simply follow these easy steps:
First, you head on over to the Spatium Stories platform and login with DeSo, Metamask, or Google.
This will be a really cool feature for those not already on DeSo. So people coming from ETH can use Metamask, and those on Solana or Bitcoin maxis can use Google to sign up or sign in.
Odds are, those people don’t have any $DESO yet, and that’s the beauty of this new feature!
So after you sign in, you head on over to the marketplace, and pick out a book you want to buy.
Again, as of right now, you can only pick one of the MOD books. It will obviously be more interesting if you pick one of the 0.1 $DESO (~$1.40) books because the free ones will skip this process…since they are free.
After you click Buy, you should see a checkout window pop up with a breakdown of the price.
You can click the Confirm Payment button to continue paying with $DESO…OR, below that you can click the “Pay with Alternative Crypto (beta)” button.
This will then let you pick the crypto you want.
Once you click Next, it will give you an address and QR code to send the specified amount of crypto.
From your end, as the user, all you have to do is send the specified amount of SOL, BTC, ETH, or whatever crypto to that address, and then sit back and wait.
You will be updated with the progress of the transaction, and then after a little wait, you will get your book! Boom! Done!
It’s that easy!
And rest assured, the whole idea here is your money never actually leaves your ownership until the book is purchased. What I mean is, technically you are trading your alt crypto for $DESO, and then the book is bought.
If you want to know more about this process we are releasing another blog soon that goes a little deeper into the process, but I say that now just to assure you that if something goes wrong, your money isn’t lost, it is just converted and stored in your DeSo wallet instead of Phantom or Metamask.
Phew!
Ok, so that’s basically how it all works.
To sum it all up:
You send crypto, it’s converted to $DESO and stored in YOUR account, then you bid on the newly minted NFT book, storing the sale on-chain and attached to the NFT.
Fully transparent, fully yours.
